EndStop, a national college e-magazine
Abstract:
One important path to institutional collaboration is through student-centered ventures. The project we are proposing takes this path. We are asking that you consider funding a student-run magazine targeted for college audiences across the nation. Working with faculty from Kenyon and Denison, students from both institutions will design, manage, and distribute this e-magazine, EndStop.
EndStop is not meant to be or to replace Kenyon or Denison’s student newspapers. As a nation-wide magazine, EndStop will feature top world news, college news, opinion articles/editorials, film/music reviews, and literature. Aimed at college students nation-wide, EndStop is aiming at a demographic group that is online the most, has the best connections to the internet, and we believe, is in search of quality, well-written content. The missing ingredient from most other portals aimed at college students is the lack of high quality standards.
In addition to its high standards of quality content, EndStop will explore the design possibilities that the web allows. It will not attempt to mimic a hard-copy newspaper or magazine. The ambition of this e-magazine is to take into account the most effective current methods of communication. We plan to look at the possibilities of audio articles and short digital video presentations. Collaboration with students from Kenyon and Denison on the design level is a crucial part of this proposal. To create a truly innovative product, student will explore themes of design and the organization of space. Working with professors from Kenyon and Denison will be key to this enterprise.
